Blues Festival on Saturday

Don't miss the free all day Blues Festival this Saturday. If I were in town, this is where I would be.

Outdoor 80s Fest

Relax outdoors on Friday night - Ferris Bueller's Day Off is playing at the I love the 80s Festival in Rosslyn. The screening is just two blocks from the Rosslyn Metro and parking is available across the street from Gateway Park at the Atlantic Parking Garage for $3 at 1901 and 1911 N. Ft. Myer Drive after 6 pm.

Beer

This is for you Eric. There are many arguably good places to have a beer in this town and I certainly have not discovered all of them. The breweries that I have been to include Rock Bottom, Gordon Biersch and Capitol City.

Rock Bottom in Ballston has a great atmosphere for watching a football game or hanging out with friends on the weekend. The food is decent with more options than the typical bar. I suggest the Radio Tower Red. Join the Mug Club to receive glasses, t-shirts and other prizes. Every Tuesday is trivia night (kinda nerdy, but really fun).

Capitol City in Shirlington is my pick if you want to sit outside and enjoy a refreshment. Their Amber Waves is my favorite red beer. The food is not so great. I took a couple of out of towners to the place last weekend and they were impressed. It is more about the beer and the atmosphere here. Check out Ocktober Fest on October 3rd- 30+ breweries, German food and band.

Gordon Biersch in Rockville or Tysons Corner has good food and beer. It has more of a restaurant feel which I find kind of boring. Try the Marzen.

Prost!

Me Gusta

If I had to rate my top cuisines it would probably go like this- 1. Mexican 2. Japonese 3. Indian. I never tire of salsa, guacamole, black beans...While at WVU, a Qdoba was built. R and I were repeat customers. There is just something special about making your own burrito. Since I moved to DC, I have tried a few other Mexican 'fast food' places. Near my work there is a Chipotle. It is not as good to me as Qdoba. The salsa is not as hot and the beans have more seasonings. California Tortilla in Clarendon does not hit the spot. I found the food to be blah. Moe's is near our house. I do love the salsa bar and that they greet you at the door with a loud "Welcome to Moe's". So the bottom line is that Qdoba rules and Moe's is a close second as far as fast burritos go.
